Permits are in- renovations begin
We gave the realtor our offer in October of 2021, we closed on the property in March of 2022. We finally got permits for our work about 6 months submitting them and guiding them through all the corrent channels. You must work with a geometra who either draws up your wished changes or if the changes are extensive, he works with an architect to draw them, them he hands them in for you to the correct authority, you are not allowed to do this on your on as I have done myself with other projects in the US . The paperwork must first be granted permission by your local community, and if passed, go to the larger permitting group, which in our case was in Siena. Italy is very cautious about allowing changes to these old houses. This gaping hole became a wonderful sunlit window from which we could look towards town and also view our olive trees and farmland. From the moment I walked down those those stairs, I knew a window looking out would be perfect there! The permit to open up the stone and have a window there was our hardest and longest permit to accomplishment, but our geometra made it happen and everytime I look out to the land, it makes me so happy. I know the wait was worth it! When you look at the before and after pictures, you’ll get to see many of changes that needed permitting. One was taking out the wall between the kitchen and the living room, another wonderful and needed change!
