Initial drive up…..hum….

Besides being in a beautiful part of Italy (Lecchi in Chianti) and being made of stone, there wasn’t a lot of drive up appeal to the little house our realtor had brought us to. But…..we allowed ourselves to get out of the car and we are so glad we did. Walk to the left or to the right of the top half of the house and the panoramic views of the vineyards, the olive orchards, and the beauty beyond were stunning! Not only that, but the house’s position to the orbit of the sun meant the backyard would get sun from sun up to sun down, something that is really important to me and to all the flowers and vegetables that I love to grow. Our realtor unlocks the doors and your arrive to the 2 bedrooms and a bath and travertine stairway down to the lower level. The house was full of furniture. Hadn’t been touched in 15 to 20 years, but the light from the lower level drew us down the stairs like a magnet. Unlike many of the Italian houses that we had been shown that tended to be dark, this sweet home was flooded with light. Downstairs is your LR/kitchen and 2nd bath and your outdoor terrace. We didn’t need a big house, but did want a wonderful space for outdoor entertaining. From the very first visit, it was easy to imagine what outdoor conversations and entertaining could be realized. I’m not sure if it was the time of day we saw it, the future of the use of space as we could imagine it, whatever it was; we were both sold upon this property before we left that initial visit. We did go back and walk the property one more time without the realtor, but them went straightaway the next day to give our offer. Yep, that quick! Crazy, I know! Our realtor was as surprised as you might be. “Are you sure?” he asked as we told what we wanted to do. We never make those huge money decisions that quick; heck, we hardly ever agree on any property purchase that quick. Yet, for whatever reason, we both were charmed and sold right away. Better yet, everytime we walk out to that view, or into our lovely little town for cappuciano, we remained charmed by it’s views, it’s sun content and now it’s regained beauty!
